HISTORY OF BATH RESEARCH GROUP AT BATH CENTRAL UNITED REFORMED CHURCH (organ built by William
Sweetland)
Visitors welcome to a special
centenary talk and recital. Gordon Curtis will give a talk to
the History of Bath Research Group on Bath organ builders and
William Sweetland. The evening will finish with a recital on
the Sweetland organ by Nicholas Stuart, organist, Walcot Methodist,
Argyle URC and St John's South Parade. Visitors are welcome at
the meetings for which a small donation of £1 is suggested.

EWENNY PRIORY CHURCH, Nr Bridgend, South Wales A special service to celebrate the 160th
anniversary of the building of Ewenny Priory Organ on the centenary
of the death of William Sweetland, its builder. Choral Evensong
(Book of Common Prayer 1662). Guest Organist, Martin Colton
BMus MMus FRCO, Llandaff Diocese Organ Advisor (Previously organist
at Sheffield Cathedral) and the St Hilary Choir. The organ was
built in Bath in 1850 for 'the Gentlemen of the Theological College
at Wells for use in the Palace Chapel, where, by kind permission of
the Bishop, they assemble for daily Divine worship'. The organ
was moved to the Lady Chapel of Wells Cathedral in 1895, and then in
1999 to the newly restored nave of Ewenny Priory Church.
